Pretty much any time a contestant lands on a Mystery Wedge when they already have more than $15,000 on the table Pat will still ask if the contestant wants to risk it, albeit sarcastically.First of all, it took the tech crew a couple seconds to light up the answer (likely because they were incredulous that he had actually solved it), followed by Pat once again pretending to frisk him. Perhaps the most notable is contestant Emil on March 19, 2014, who managed to solve NEW BABY BUGGY even though the other letters he called were of no help. One instance was shown during the ceremonial 4,000th episode, when a contestant from the week of Februsolved GOPHER despite getting no help from his extra letters. Sometimes, if a contestant solves a bonus puzzle after getting little to no help from their letters, Pat will pretend to search them.A few contestants have jokingly tried to hold onto any pieces of cardboard in their possession despite having just lost them to Bankrupt. He also landed on Surprise once, quipping, "The host can't get a surprise, he has enough of those.".Pat remarked the show doesn't have ten rugs to away. One Final Spin landed on a Wheel prize, which happened to be a rug.May 31, 1990: Pat's Final Spin lands on Bankrupt three times in a row. When he lands on Bankrupt or Lose a Turn, Pat mentally facepalms and gives a little quip. Just about any time Pat's First or Final Spin lands on a penalty or prize wedge is funny note (These, however, have been edited out since 1997).(Bonus points if any incorrect letters still fit the blanks, and even more if the required letters haven't been called yet.) Some incorrect solves can be pretty funny too, and Pat will occasionally poke a little fun at their answer.Examples include NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS becoming NEW GLAND, FRANK SINATRA becoming RANK RATS and BEST MAN becoming BEAST. In the trilon-era puzzle board, Pat would sometimes remove or replace letters on Bonus Round puzzles. On several occasions during the shopping era, Pat would play with various prizes on the turntable during the intro, which often sent then-announcer Jack Clark into fits of laughter. After an incorrect letter and a Bankrupt, a contestant finally calls the R, to which Pat says "Thank you!" (The answer was MARCO POLO SHIRT.) March 5, 2009: A Before & After puzzle reads _A_ _ SHI_T.After the E is called, Pat remarks "Praise the Lord!"
Pat was sure to make a big deal out of things.
